Tigard Christian Church

Stephen Ministers are trained, caring, volunteer Christian lay people who are available to listen, to support and to be a friend to those experiencing the normal stresses and crises of life.   They are not counselors.  Their role is to listen and care.

Grief, divorce, job loss, re-location, drug abuse, hospitalization, illness, loneliness, disability, family problems, pregnancy and spiritual needs – crisis like these can overwhelm us.

Stephen Ministers provide one-on-one ongoing Christian care in a strictly confidential manner to those in need of support and encouragement.  What a care receiver tells a Stephen Minister is kept confidential.

There are no cold calls made.  A Stephen Minister is assigned only to people who agree to receive a Stephen Minister.  Men are assigned to men and women are assigned to women.
